A creamy, comforting tomato soup ready in just 30 minutes - with ingredients you probably already have.
Did you know? The termbisque once referred to rich, creamy seafood soups from France. Over the years, it evolved into a smooth, luxurious soup style, and the tomato bisque became a much-loved classic for its balance of richness and simplicity.
This version of tomato bisque soup leans into that tradition while gently layering in Indian-inspired flavors. The result is both familiar and fresh, something you can make on a quiet night or serve as a light meal when you're craving something warm and grounding.
Tomatoes are slow-simmered with hints of garlic, onion, and ginger, then blended to a smooth finish. A swirl of cream or coconut milk adds body, without making it overly heavy. The seasoning is soft but thoughtful, with turmeric and everyday spice blends adding depth without overwhelming the core tomato flavor.

Add the garlic and ginger, and cook for another minute or two until aromatic.
Stir in the tomatoes, seasoning blend, and turmeric. Let everything cook uncovered for about 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to concentrate and the tomatoes to soften.
Add the broth or water, stir well, and let it simmer for another 10 minutes.
Turn off the heat and let the soup cool slightly. Blend until smooth using an immersion blender or a standard one.
Return the soup to low heat. Stir in the cream or coconut milk and season with salt to taste.
